When we first met Paul Linn, he was the designated Virginia ReRun thoroughbred horse adoption farm in Virginia.  My wife and I had been looking for a big horse for me, and found what we thought was a very good prospect named Shades Creek located on the ReRun Virginia website.  My wife, Debra, called Paul and talked to him, and made arrangements to go see Shades as he is affectionately called.  It was pretty much love at first sight, and Paul was absolutely delightful to deal with.  Well, we agreed to adopt Shades, and got him home a few weeks later.  Then the game of establishing who was boss horse and master of the pasture between Shades and I began.  Foolishly I thought I was the master in this game.   But then Shades tried to bite me one day, and a few days later as I was unlatching a gate, he charged my back, and bit me very hard, putting a big hole in my jacket and shirt, and making a pretty good dent in my back.

I called Paul and told him what had been happening and that Shades had finally charged me and bitten me.  We talked, and I realized from my conversation with Paul that I had been sending Shades the wrong signals.  Shades clearly thought he was boss horse.  Paul graciously offered to come to our place and help me with Shades.  Paul came and spent time working with Shades and I showing me what I was doing wrong, and what I needed to do to re-establish my control over Shades.  From this visit, and a subsequent visit when I first rode Shades, I realized how knowledgeable Paul was, and his high level of skill as a trainer and clinician.  Now thanks to Paul’s tutoring Shades and I have become soul mates.  Without Paul’s tremendous skill as tutor of natural horsemanship, and patience I would never have known how to unlock the sweet horse that was locked up inside Shades.

What People are Saying About Paul

These are unedited comments from actual Woodridge Farm clients
Words can not describe how wonderful Paul has been to me. I adopted the most beautiful mare from Paul's program. Unfortunately, she had some underlying health issues that were not evident at the time. It was a long road but with Paul's help, we straighted Marge out. There was never a time that I called that he was not available to offer help, a sympathetic ear or even a home visit. The home visit was especially nice since I live over six hours away from his beautiful home. Paul was always as concerned as I was about Marge. His advice and support was invaluable. The farm is wonderful, a true home environment for all the horses in his care.   All the horses come right up to you asking for pets, brushing, and of course, treats. They are the picture of contentment. I have watched him for several years match up the right horse with the right person, hold charity events to benefit horses and people in need. The primary concern that Paul has is the welfare of the horse. In a day and age when many people are out for a quick buck its been so nice to develop a true friendship with people who do what they do for all the right reasons. Paul has rehabilitated many horses that others have given up on,  and in the process made many an adopters dream come true. I am really honored to be able to call him my friend.

The Exceller Fund has known Paul Linn for almost a year.  Our first introduction to Paul was when he took over the care of our horse, Rich In Dallas, who is one of the horses that portrayed Seabiscuit in the recent hit movie.  Since then, we have sent two other horses into his care, and were also involved with CANTER in the rescue of a third horse, a very emaciated mare, who was sent to Paul for rehabilitaiton.  The level of communication and information about our horses from Paul has been wonderful. He has been fair and honest with us in caring for our horses, and the members of The Exceller Fund enjoy hearing from him.  One of our recent horses, Sampson, was sent to Paul after he was deemed a dangerous rogue and almost sent to a livestock auction.  Everyone who came in contact with Sampson was afraid of him.  With patience, kindness, and understanding, Paul has transformed him into a gentle and playful horse that is a pleasure to watch.

Paul,

Thank you, thank you for everything you have done for SUNNY and ME! I am speechless. HAPPY HAPPY.........

He no longer is a "BAD BOY"! He can just be, "SUNNY BOY" He seems much happier and settled in himself. Yet, he has much more to learn from you. I know he will be all weird when he gets home, and, we'll have to help him out.

I quess you should reserve a space for his continued education. We will just chill-out until he gets back by you. Hopefully people won't mess him up when I go away in July. He is like my piece of art work! HANDLE WITH CARE!!!! DO NOT TOUCH.

There is sooooo much to say!!  See you in the morning.
